Why Money Still Doesn’t Feel Fun (Even When You’re Doing Well)
I had a conversation with someone yesterday that really stayed with me.
He noticed the extra set of tires in my garage, and immediately went into concerns about rising costs, global instability, and the possibility of prices increasing.
He said he felt like he needed to start buying everything now.
Stock up on tires. Food. Essentials. Anything he could get ahead of before things got worse.
And to be clear… he’s not wrong.
There is uncertainty in the world right now, and many factors that can cause certain types of expenses to fluctuate.
Anything tied to gas and oil is at risk for increases right now.
But as I listened, I realized something:
That's not the mindset I want to live in.
Not because I ignore reality.
Not because I don’t plan, prepare, or save.
But because I’m not orienting my life around bracing for what might happen.
That's an endless cycle that becomes exhausting.
I’m focused on something different:
How do I stay in right relationship with money?
How do I stay connected to the flow of life… and the flow of the universe?
How do I earn, spend, save, and invest in a way that's in harmony with what is actually happening in my life?
How do I get clear about my intentions with money and be in a daily prayer with them?
Yes, I think about the future.
Yes, I make thoughtful decisions.
But I’m not operating from urgency, fear, or the need to “get ahead” before something goes wrong.
Because when you relate to money from that place…
It doesn’t actually create safety.
It creates tension and can drain you.
And that tension is what so many people are feeling, even when things are going well.
And that’s what I want to talk about today.
Because money isn’t just something you manage.
It’s something you’re in relationship with.
And when that relationship is grounded in fear, scarcity, or constant anticipation of what could go wrong…
No amount of income fully resolves the feeling underneath.
That underneath is the subconscious, and if you believe money is scarce and there is never enough, you'll most likely avoid it or operate from a place of desperation, or pushing from will power.
Two people can experience the exact same financial reality… and live in completely different emotional worlds.
The Missing Layer in Financial Success No One Taught You
Most financial guidance focuses on tactics:
Earn more.
Save more.
Spend less.
Optimize your systems.
And yes, those things do matter.
But they address the surface, not the source.
It’s like having constant migraines and only taking painkillers, without ever understanding why they’re happening.
Because again, money isn’t just something you manage.
It’s a resource you relate to.
And that relationship is tied to your deepest sense of security.
Most of us were never taught how to do that well.
We absorbed our beliefs about money early, from family, culture, and lived experiences.
And those beliefs subconsciously shape every financial decision we make.
No wonder the results feel inconsistent.
Lasting, fun financial change requires more than better tactics!
It requires transforming the inner terrain that drives every decision.
The Three M’s That Transform How You Experience Money
In my two decades of working with clients, I’ve found that real financial change happens across three interconnected layers: Management, Magnetism, and Manifestation.
1. Management: The Stability That Holds Your Power
Most people treat money management like a chore.
That’s why they avoid it.
Integrate this simple practice, and see what shifts:
Your 10-Minute Devotion Practice
For the next 7 days, spend 10 minutes a day in devotion to your money.
Not fixing or figuring it all out.
Just:
Open your accounts
Look at your numbers
Allow yourself to be fully aware of what you think about those numbers.
Are they sufficient for you or do you immediately say to yourself, it’s not enough?
And say:
“I am so grateful for you. For the life you support. For everything you make possible. I am enough, there is enough, I have enough.”
Avoidance is what creates chaos, not lack of knowledge.
When you sit with your money consistently and consciously cultivate this state of acceptance, gratitude, and being at peace with what you currently have as if it’s a miracle, your nervous system stabilizes.
And from that place… better decisions begin to emerge naturally.
When you continuously repeat: “I am enough, there is enough, I have enough” your mind wants to create it.
When you continuously tell yourself: “There isn’t enough and I need more,” your mind wants to create that too.
2. Magnetism: Healing the Relationship Beneath the Numbers
Your income patterns are not random.
They're a reflection of what you're doing.
Try this:
The Money Mirror Ritual
The next time money comes in, pause.
Look at the number.
And ask:
What do I believe this says about me?
Do I feel worthy of this… or braced for it to disappear?
Does this feel like enough?
Then consciously shift:
“I allow this to stay and I expand my capacity to hold more.”
Because for many strong earners, the issue isn’t earning.
It’s holding.
Magnetism isn't about attracting more.
It’s about becoming someone who can receive and retain without tension.
3. Manifestation: Becoming the Version of You Who Is Already Supported
Most manifestation advice focuses on visualizing more money.
But that’s not quite it.
Manifestation is about stepping into a version of you where the shift has already happened.
Here is a potent exercise to integrate into your financial life:
The Future Memory Practice
Imagine yourself six months from now…
Looking back on this time, but from the place living at the level of abundance that would most be inspiring to you.
That might be having surplus every month, having your retirement accounts filled up to the brim, being able to travel internationally, having a personal chef... whatever that next level of abundance is for you, imagine your life already has it.
Then ask:
How do I feel about money now?
What did I believe before that can no longer be true?
What am I no longer worried about?
Then feel it:
Relief.
Stability.
Fun.
Clarity.
By changing your state and bringing fun and play into this arena, money no longer represents your survival, but instead it puts you in the driver’s seat.
When you can influence how much of it is coming in and how much is going back out, you can feel a sense of levity with it because there isn’t so much pressure to survive, or keep up, or brace for all those cost increases and inflation down the line.
Because:
You don’t manifest from effort.
You manifest from your state and identity.
When you change this, money changes in an organic way.
That's how it's happened for me!
I decided that I wanted to have fun with it.
I had to find a way for it to be magical, enjoyable and miraculous, because I was done with the stress and worry.
Now here's an even deeper question to ask yourself:
If my income were guaranteed… how would I relate to money today?
Not spend.
Relate.
Would you still feel urgency?
Avoidance?
Tension?
Or would you feel:
Calm.
Intentional.
Happy to look at it.
Safe.
That version of you is the one who creates stability.
Bringing It All Together
When these three work together - Management, Magnetism, and Manifestation - something profound shifts.
You stop trying to control money.
And start feeling supported by it.
The anxiety softens.
The reactivity fades.
The decisions become cleaner.
And instead of money feeling chaotic…
It starts to feel:
Steady.
Responsive.
Available.
Because at the end of the day, this is the real shift:
From bracing… to relating
From reacting… to creating
From controlling… to allowing
And from that place…
Money starts to show up differently in life.
You feel in partnership with it.
You feel like it’s something you can actually influence and have it show up.
If you’re ready to deepen this work and bring structure, healing, and alignment into your financial life, I would love to support you.
